This panel will explore the rhetoric and persuasive strategies used by the presidential candidates and parties in the 2008 election. The panel will encourage audience participation and discussion.

This panel will help start the Saturday morning sessions with lighthearted cuttings from Shakespeare's "A Midsummer's Night Dream," presented by students. Faculty will add a more serious note from "Hamlet," and other classical literature.

The panel presents a model for assessing course outcomes through a pedagogically embedded learning outcomes assessment.  Based on their experience implementing the model, panelists will discuss conceptualization for assessment projects, interpreting results, and determining future directions for continuous course improvement.

Challenges for Secondary Teacher Preparation:  Curriculum and Certification
This Forum is intended to stimulate discussion and activism regarding the preparation of Speech and Theatre teacher in MichiganÕs secondary schools.  Continuing trends in curriculum and certification at the state and national levels present challenges to current and prospective teachers, as well as to the institutions who prepare teachers for work in the discipline.   Panelists will offer experientially based perspectives and will facilitate group discussion regarding responding to these challenges.
